Our Story

As of April 2026 my husband and I have been married 24 years and have 2 sons, ages 16 and 14, and a daughter whose 10.

When our eldest son started experiencing a variety of health issues at age 6 it was a pretty lonely and scary time for us. No one we knew at the time had experienced anything like what we were going through and doctor after doctor struggled to help us as well.

As the years went by and our other children started experiencing symptoms, some the same and some different, then that’s when more pieces started falling into place.

When some blood work indicated that the children might have a rare blood cancer, a well known children’s hospital got us in quickly.

These were the diagnosis we received all along the way: Mast Cell Syndrome, Lyme Disease, Asperger’s Autism, PANS/PANDAS, Fructose Intolerance, Gastritis, Adrenal Dysfunction, Liver Detox Issues, Parasites, Migraines, Asthma, Chronic Fatigue, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Food Sensitivities, Digestion Malabsorption, Snow Vision and more.

The final 2 diagnoses from the hospital: not cancer but Acute Intermittent Porphyria and Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction. Both cause a variety of symptoms and can affect multiple organs in the body that will need to be monitored over time.

There were years upon years of uncertainty, guessing games and trial and error. Unfortunately a genuine peaceful presence was something I had let myself lose in the midst of all the chaos.

We still have chaos and continued uncertainty but I have discovered how to find inward ease in the midst of it all and I’m here now to share how with whoever needs to hear it.

This photo was taken in 2024 after a year of making several trips to the hospital. Everyone was well enough to try for a fun trip so we ventured to Asheville, NC where we hiked up Lookout Trail in Montreat. It was hard and the more we climbed the more inwardly concerned I became that we may had overdone it on the first day and would have to rest the next few days. But when we got to the top it was the most beautiful picture of our entire year. We did it...we did it and look how far we'd come. All the progress we'd made and the strength we'd found. I allowed all of my concerns for what recovery might look like over the next few days to soften and I thoroughly became present and so grateful for that moment.

The next few days had times of not feeling well but overall it was wonderful. It was a peaceful pursuit and I continue with that aim for each new day!
